Time is an interesting concept. In Earth's history alone, Time has "begun" literally billions of times. Time being relative to the observer means that billions of individual "clocks" have discrete starting points.

It's tempting to argue that while time existed prior to my birth on March 5, 1961 at 9:19pm EST, that because it did not exist for me previous to my entry into our world that from my POV, time did not begin until a Sunday night in March 1961.

For me, "reality" didn't begin until the moment of my birth. "Time" did not exist for me. Richard Feynman had a far better grasp on the concept of the sum of histories than I do, and his grasp was tenuous at best. However, at the moment of my birth, I never AND always existed in Time but perhaps in a different History.

It's also easy to argue that "time" began at the instant of the Big Bang if indeed that's how our Universe started. But what of other, previously existent Universes? Is there "time" in a Universe where no one exists?It's the cosmic analogy to the rhetorical question of whether a falling tree makes a sound if there is no one there to hear it. close(-)

I think we have to look at cases not involving crashed Soviet satellites on American soil during the height of the Cold War if we really want to investigate UFO's and also be considered credible.

If there's a "shroud of mystery" around Kecksburg, I think it speaks to the Government's recalcitrance to divulge information that may or may still not be "sensitive" in terms of releasing information to the general public. Every nation has an overly elaborate (in my opinion) system of suppressing any information it considers as vital to sovereign security.

I've watched a couple documentaries on Kecksburg, and I have no reason to believe that the "incident" was extraterrestrial in nature. Almost certainly, this was a Soviet satellite that had the misfortune (from the Soviet perspective) to re-enter Earth atmosphere and deposit itself on the North American continent. close(-)
